Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers Partners with Hunger Network for Weekly Food Donation

Mentor, OH. February 7, 2022: Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers, Inc., an area leader in the treatment of substance use disorders since 1971, is thrilled to announce a partnership with Hunger Network.
Hunger Network Food Rescue’s mission is to prevent perfectly viable food from entering the waste stream. Hunger Network works to eliminate hunger and promote a healthy environment by rescuing surplus food and redirecting it to organizations, such as Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers, that serve individuals and families who are experiencing food insecurity.

Hunger Network will be working closely with the new Trader Joe’s in Mentor who will be donating fresh produce, entrees (salads, sandwiches, soups, etc.), bakery, meat, seafood, dairy and eggs through the Neighborhood Shares Program.

“We’re happy to support Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers,” says Julie M. Johnson, Hunger Network’s CEO. Hunger Network has been working to end hunger and build healthier communities for over 25 years. Our new partnership with Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers serves multiple purposes – decreasing food waste in Lake County, increasing community engagement on important issues such as food insecurity and the like to substance use disorders, and providing food to members of our communities who are facing food insecurity.”

The donations that Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers will receive consist of good quality, fresh products. By redirecting this food to Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers, Hunger Network ensures that it does not go to waste, contributing to overall reductions of carbon in the atmosphere. Additionally, it’s helping people in need right here in our community. You can learn more about the Hunger Network by visiting www.hungernetwork.org/
