LAKE-GEAUGA RECOVERY CENTERS ANNOUNCES DRUG FREE WORK PLACE SAFETY TRAINING and POLICY IMPLEMENTATION
Mentor, OH. April 19, 2021: Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers is proud to offer Drug-Free Workplace Safety Program services for Geauga County and Lake County businesses, and the surrounding areas. Drug-Free Safety Program (DFSP) is a program through the Ohio Bureau of Worker’s Compensation that offers businesses savings on their Worker’s Compensation Premiums for instituting a comprehensive program. The DFSP includes a written policy for a drug free work environment, drug/alcohol testing, annual employee education, coupled with accident analysis trainings for supervisors.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 15% – 17% of employees in an average U.S. company misuse substances. When a person is impaired, it can lead to accidents, inefficiency and reduced productivity. An employee who abuses substances like drugs and alcohol can cost their employer anywhere from $7,000-$25,000 per year. These costs can be substantial to a small business. Instituting a Drug-Free Safety Program can help send a message that your workplace is focused on safety and providing help to those employees who require assistance.
The course provides education on drug trends impacting the workforce, legal issues impacting a drug-free workplace policy and best practices for operationalizing a program. Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers can aide you in assessing your current policy, ensuring that it meets all the criteria for the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. In addition, participating businesses may be positioned for rebates and Safety Grants through the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.
