LAKE-GEAUGA RECOVERY CENTERS CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF SERVICE WITH CAMPAIGN FOR NEW 16-BED RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT FACILITY

Mentor, OH. February 10, 2021: 2021 marks the 50th Anniversary of Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers. Over those 50 years, Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers has saved countless lives. To celebrate, and address the growing and changing needs of residential treatment services for men, Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers announces a new $2 million capital campaign to construct a new, state of the art facility that will serve 16 men.

This new house, to be located in Painesville, will address the community demand, eliminate the wait time for this level of care and increase the organization’s capacity to provide high quality and much needed residential treatment services for men.

“For 50 years, Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers has helped thousands of Lake and Geauga County residents conquer their addiction and turn their lives around. This new residential treatment facility will be a welcoming home for men trying to change their lives, providing the supportive, safe environment where the hard and hopeful work towards recovery can begin. With generous support from the community, many more men can experience the joy of recovery,” said Melanie Blasko, President and CEO of Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers. Blasko continued, “we are very grateful for the support we’ve already received from the State of Ohio, Lake County ADAMHS Board and Geauga County Board of Mental Health and Recovery Services and look forward to working closely with our community friends and partners in making this new home a reality.”

Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers’ mission is “to promote lifelong recovery from addiction through education, prevention, and treatment regardless of ability to pay.” Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers has continued to offer the most effective alcohol and drug residential treatment in Lake and Geauga counties ensuring no one is turned away even during a worldwide pandemic.

A significant aspect of this pandemic is the growing and changing service needs related to residential treatment services for addicted men who continue to need care now more than ever as recent studies have shown COVID-19 is contributing to increased social isolation, stress levels and anxiety for everyone, but this can be especially dangerous for men recovering from addiction.

Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers is a private, nonprofit agency providing continuous service to the community since 1971. Services at Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers are made possible due to the generous support of the Lake County ADAMHS Board, the Geauga Board of MHRS, and United Way of Lake & Geauga Counties.
