Jail Treatment Counselor

Jane serves as a Jail Treatment Counselor at the Geauga County Safety Center, where she supports individuals involved in the justice system who are seeking recovery from substance use disorders. After beginning her career in Peer Support Services, Jane recently transitioned into a counseling role and is currently working toward obtaining her Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor III credential, which she expects to earn early next year.

Jane earned her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Psychology from Bowling Green State University. She also completed several graduate-level courses in Special Education at Bowling Green State University, strengthening her understanding of individual learning needs and human development.

Jane also brings invaluable lived experience to her work. As a former client of Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers’ Oak House, Jail Treatment Program, and Intensive Outpatient Program, she has navigated significant personal challenges throughout her own recovery journey. Jane often jokes that she earned a “Ph.D. from the School of Hard Knocks,” a reflection of the resilience, perseverance, and insight she gained through those experiences.

Jane’s combination of professional training and personal recovery experience allows her to connect authentically with clients, offering hope, understanding, and practical guidance as they work toward lasting recovery and a healthier future.
