Part-Time Development Officer

The Development Officer provides development and fundraising direction to Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers.  They report directly to the President & CEO, and in conjunction with the Donor Relations Manager, are responsible for the creation of annual and long-range fundraising plans, and for the implementation and evaluation of the performance of these plans. The Development Officer plans, coordinates, assures implementation and evaluates all marketing and fundraising strategies to develop donors, raise awareness and increase contributions to the agency.  They formulate short and long term goals for development and fundraising efforts of the organization.  Develops actionable strategies for meeting and exceeding those goals through  sponsorships, gifts, donations, and fundraising events.  Conducts annual campaigns, capital campaigns, planned giving, major gifts targeting a variety of external sources including individuals, corporations, foundations and other stakeholders.  Develops and maintains donor data base system that is current and accurate regarding donor information, gift solicitation, gift entry and gift acknowledgment.  Works closely with Donor Relations Manager to cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors. Raises positive awareness of the agency and its mission through active participation in outreach efforts, regular events in the community, publications and media.  The Development Officer coordinates all public relations through the design and development of promotional and marketing activities, administer/maintain website and social media, scheduled periodic external communication, i.e. newsletters, donor newsletter, press releases, etc. Oversees special events, for Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers, including but not limited to fundraising events and coordinates and prepares the agency Annual Report. Maintains agency mailing list,  and  establishes and maintains solid working relationships with Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers’ Board of Directors.  Demonstrates ability to protect client rights to privacy and confidentiality in the preparation and handling of Development records especially in the communication of client information to the media.  Abides by agency code of ethics and follows established agency policies and procedures.  Ensures compliance with all state or federal regulations and the Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethics regarding the acceptance of gifts, and the dissemination of funds.  Maintains accurate and confidential records and prepares, as requested, progress reports to the CEO and Development Committee Board of Directors.  Maintains membership in any relevant organizations.

Bachelor Degree, Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience, including major gift fundraising experience, demonstrated knowledge of all major facets of a development operation, including annual fund, major gifts, planned giving, special events, donor database applications and event planning, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, computer knowledge, goal oriented, organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Pay: $30,000 – $45,000 annually
