Full-Time Peer Recovery Supporter
The Peer Recovery Supporter will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator to recovering individuals in order to help prevent relapse and promote long term recovery. Must have lived experience of substance use disorder or co-occurring mental health & substance use disorder and knowledge about Substance Use Disorders, the drug and alcohol treatment system, and community resources. It is required that the Peer Recovery supporter has an understanding of and a respect for each individual’s unique path to recovery. They are responsible for providing recovery education to individuals for every phase of the recovery journey from pre-recovery engagement, recovery initiation, recovery stabilization, and sustained recovery maintenance. They provide a model for both people in recovery and staff by demonstrating that recovery is possible, and will assist individuals to identify their personal interests, goals, strengths and weaknesses regarding recovery. The Peer Recovery Supporter is key in assisting individuals in developing their own plan for advancing their recovery as well as assisting in expressing their voice, needs, goals and objectives. They will actively identify and support linkages to community resources (community of recovery, educational, vocational, social, cultural, spiritual resources, mutual self-help groups, professional services, etc.) that support the achievement of the individual’s goals and interests. Provide vision-driven hope and encouragement for opportunities at varying levels of involvement in community based activities. Identify barriers t full participation in community resources and developing strategies to overcome those barriers. Maintains professional standards of ethics and adheres to LGRC Code of Ethics, including client confidentiality. Completes client charting and other required documentation in a timely, professional & legible manner. May transport residents as necessary and assigned, and participates in agency and treatment team meetings as needed. The Peer Recovery Supporter maintains contact by phone and/or email with recovering person after they leave the program to insure their ongoing success and to provide re-engagement support in partnership with others in the agency or community if needed.
High School diploma/G.E.D, Certified Peer Recovery Supporter, Valid driver license Required
Background Check and Alcohol and Drug Screen required.
Pay: $28,000.00 – $40,000.00 per year
