United Way of Lake County Women’s Leadership Council Makes Holidays Bright

The United Way of Lake County Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) spent time on Saturday, December 17, 2016 wrapping the gifts they purchased for the residents at Oak House, Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers women’s residential facility.  The gifts are always a welcome surprise on Christmas morning and will surely bring a lot of smiles to the residents.  We are deeply grateful to the WLC women for their donation of time, talent and treasure for our clients.

Throughout the year the WLC also volunteered countless hours helping the clients at Oak House and Nevaeh Ridge prepare to return to the work force by advising them how to prepare a resume, dress for an interview and practice interviewing techniques, all very important components to securing a job.  Through the help and guidance of the WLC our clients are prepared to interview for that all important job once they complete treatment.

In 2015 the Women’s Leadership Council also awarded a grant to Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers towards the purchase of 2 treadmills and 2 elliptical machines for Oak House and Nevaeh Ridge.  These machines which the women enjoy using on a regular basis, are highly beneficial during recovery by helping to reduce stress and anxiety, improve self-esteem and weight-loss and improve energy levels. The women have commented frequently on how much they enjoy using the exercise equipment.

Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers thanks the United Way of Lake County Women’s Leadership Council for their ongoing support and friendship.
